Course Overview
Emergency Medical Preparedness and Response for women in CBRN – CBRN Academy has designed this course for women dealing with dangerous CBRN agents. The course focuses on preparing Emergency First Responders, including paramedics, for dealing with critical CBRN incidents and events.
The course will enable women to obtain the required information about emergency response to CBRN incidents, including the roles and responsibilities of first responders and other involved stakeholders. Also, to enable the women to understand how to provide First Aid and life-saving treatment at the CBRN incident scene and provide adequate transportation to the hospital. The women will be trained on PPE donning and doffing procedures and personnel decontamination, considering ethical, religious and cultural issues.
Course Objectives and outcomes.
This training course aims to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to;
- Recognise CBRN/HazMat events.
- Understand the nature of emergencies caused by CBRN hazards.
- How to deal with injured persons from such an event or incident.
- Understand the fundamental principles of the initial response to a CBRN incident.
- Raise awareness of patient management principles in the event of a CBRN incident.
- Understand how to provide First Aid and life-saving treatment at the CBRN incident scene and understand how to provide adequate transportation to the hospital.
- Learn the importance of PPE.
- Know the different levels and types of PPE.
- Understand the limitations of PPE.

Joelle is a talented CBRNe trainer for paramedics and first responders, with a vast experience in theoretical and operational trainings, Also as a woman in this field, she was working on cultural issues that might face the first responders in the field of CBRN such as hijab/abaya…, this would be one of the major issues in decontamination procedure and how it is important to maintain the privacy and dignity , this could be done by involving female CBRN first responders during the management of mass contaminated casualties and most vulnerable people, moreover the role of Women in CBRN incidents and how she can contribute to enhance the response before, during and after CBRN incidents.
