Course Overview
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Instructor – CBRN Academy has designed this 5-day course to train and qualify Emergency responders as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) instructors. The course focuses on training their operators in the safe use of SCBA to enable them to work in an irrespirable atmosphere. It will provide the instructor with the knowledge and skills to safely plan, risk assess and deliver SCBA courses as required.

Intended recipients and min max numbers
CBRN Academy has designed this course for people who require to be trained as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) instructors to deliver training to their responders who are required to work in irrespirable atmospheres.
All attendees must be previously trained to wear and use SCBA. A separate course can be run before attendance to training the attendees in the use of SCBA.
Course Certification
Your CBRN Academy instructor will issue a signed certificate of training completion to all successful participants at the end of the course. To qualify for the official Certificate, the student must attend and complete all assessments and score 80% or more.
Course Methodology
Learning and development will be facilitated through practical sessions, scenarios, classroom lessons, case studies, videos, presentations, participant engagement and equipment familiarisation.

Course Instructor

Alistair is an experienced trainer and practitioner in the field of CBRNe security and protection. He gained initial experience in his specialist field when working in the London Fire Brigade, working as a Leading firefighter. He served for approximately ten years building up a wealth of experience in all operational matters. Alistair joined the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), where he became a public order officer and a public order medic. He later qualified as a lead member of the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team. Alistair served in many Policing teams where he specialised as a supervisor in the Metropolitan police CBRN unit. As a tactical commander, he dealt with a wide variety of high profile CBRN incidents, the most notable being the Salisbury attack incident.
