Senior Content Writer

Develops structured, authoritative content across website pages, white papers, training materials, and thought leadership publications. Must demonstrate strong research capability, technical writing precision, and the ability to communicate complex CBRN topics clearly and responsibly.

About the Role

The Senior Content Writer is responsible for developing structured, authoritative written content that reflects CBRN Academy’s position as a leading institution in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear preparedness. This is not a generalist content role — it requires the ability to research and communicate complex technical, regulatory, and operational subject matter clearly, accurately, and responsibly. You will produce content across website pages, white papers, training materials, thought leadership publications, and institutional communications, working closely with technical experts, consultants, and the Academy’s leadership to ensure that every output meets the highest standards of precision and credibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and write high-quality content for the Academy’s website, including service pages, course descriptions, and institutional communications.
  • Develop white papers, policy briefs, and research publications that contribute to public discourse on CBRN preparedness and public safety.
  • Write and edit training materials, instructional content, and learning guides in collaboration with subject-matter experts and instructional designers.
  • Produce thought leadership articles, opinion pieces, and conference contributions representing the Academy’s expertise and perspective.
  • Maintain and apply an editorial framework that ensures consistency of tone, terminology, and accuracy across all Academy content.
  • Conduct independent technical research to supplement expert input and ensure content accuracy and currency.
  • Review and edit content produced by other contributors, ensuring it meets the Academy’s standards before publication.
  • Collaborate with the media, marketing, and business development teams to produce content that supports lead generation and institutional engagement objectives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in technical, scientific, or institutional content writing, ideally within defence, public health, emergency management, life sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Exceptional written English, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to communicate complex subject matter clearly and without oversimplification.
  • Strong independent research skills, including the ability to evaluate primary sources, technical documents, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with long-form structured content such as white papers, reports, and training materials — not just web copy or social media.
  • A professional approach to accuracy and responsibility in topics with real-world public safety implications.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, SEO principles, and web publishing workflows is an advantage.
  • Academic background or professional experience in a relevant technical discipline is a strong differentiator.

What We’re Looking For

You are a writer who takes the weight of specialised subject matter seriously. You understand that content in the CBRN domain must be precise, measured, and responsibly framed — because the audiences who read it are professionals who will hold it to a high standard. You are comfortable engaging directly with technical experts, asking the right questions, and translating their knowledge into writing that is both rigorous and readable.

Working at CBRN Academy

This is a role for a senior writer who wants to do work that matters — contributing to an institution whose outputs inform real-world preparedness across sectors and borders. CBRN Academy offers a substantive, intellectually demanding writing environment with access to genuine subject-matter expertise and international programme content. This is a full-time position based in the Netherlands.
